As a seasoned expert since 1993 in Family Court mental health services, Mr. Craig offers invaluable assistance to attorneys by aiding in case preparation through thorough case review, consultation, and preparation for deposition/cross examination.
Have questions about what a mental health professional can or cannot do under their license? Want the work of another mental health professional reviewed? Already know that a professional is acting outside the scope of their role? As an expert consultant Mr. Craig delivers essential strategic support while minimizing the exposure risks linked to testifying experts. His work product is usually protected from discovery, which makes him perfect for handling sensitive case analysis and formulation with a focus on child-centered strategy and sustainable outcomes. This role encompasses preparing testifying experts for impactful testimony or for crafting depositions and cross-examinations of the work conducted by other mental health professionals, including testifying experts. This service is only to attorneys representing litigants in a case, and not to pro se parties or attorneys representing themselves.
Confidential insights from Mr. Craig, a seasoned licensed social worker, can significantly enhance attorneys' ability to construct compelling cases, particularly in situations involving complex mental health and family dynamics and the involvement of mental health professionals.
In practice, an expert may be hired first as a consultant, then later designated as a witness if their testimony is needed. However, once designated as an expert witness, their work and opinions generally become subject to discovery by the opposing party.

Discovery Protection: In many legal jurisdictions, expert analysis consultations are generally shielded from discovery by opposing counsel unless certain exceptions are in place.
Case Assessment: Deliver an impartial assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of a case, as well as its settlement value, without any obligation to testify.
Cross-Examination Preparation: Assist in predicting the arguments of opposing experts and formulating effective strategies to counter them.
Cost Management: Typically more economical than hiring testifying experts for the initial evaluation and strategy formulation.
